Common questions
The rate doesn't match what my bank charged me.
It won't, and that is expected. Plutus shows the mid-market rate — the reference rate published by central banks, the midpoint between buying and selling. Banks, cards and exchange bureaux add a margin to it. Use Plutus to see the honest number underneath, then judge what your provider adds on top.
How often do the rates change?
Once a day. These are official daily reference rates, not live market prices, so they update when the central banks publish. The app always shows the date of the rates on screen, under the conversions.
Why does it show an older date sometimes?
Rates are published on working days. At weekends, on holidays, or when your phone has no connection, Plutus shows the most recent rates it has and labels them with their date, so you always know how current the number is.
Does it work without a connection?
Yes. Plutus keeps the last rates it fetched and keeps converting offline. The status line tells you it is offline and which day's rates you are seeing.
The one-year chart is empty for a pair.
A few currencies have little or no published history. When that happens the app says so rather than drawing a misleading line. Pull down on the list to try again if you think it is a connection problem.
Can you add a currency?
Possibly — write to the address above. The app uses published central bank data, so a currency can only be added if that data exists for it.
What data do you collect about me?
None. No account, no analytics, no tracking, no ads. Everything you type stays on your phone. Full detail: palpablestudio.co/plutus/privacy-policy
Rate data
Exchange rates come from Frankfurter (frankfurter.dev), which aggregates published rates from central banks. Rates are indicative mid-market rates and are provided for information only — not financial advice, and not an offer to exchange currency at these rates.
